Although known primarily for his saxophone playing, Pine is a multi-instrumentalist, also playing the flute, clarinet, bass clarinet and keyboards.

Since the late 20th century, when his autobiography was published in a new edition, Equiano has been increasingly studied by a range of scholars, including from his homeland. For a person who is passionate about the history of Black people in Britain, I found this book to be rather disappointing, and very one-sided.The selection was made from among people who have made major contributions to arts, science, business, philanthropy and other areas in the UK and who had used their positions to advance the Black community. This literary festival was established in 2009 and is hosted by Kensington Central Library each November. Get this book if you are keen to learn about Black History and those who have helped shape Black British history and culture. Dr Oliver Lyseight (11 December 1919 – 28 February 2006), [17] who migrated to England from Jamaica in 1951, was the founder of one of Britain's largest black majority churches, and was a spiritual leader to the " Windrush generation", the first Caribbeans to emigrate in significant numbers to postwar Britain, notably in 1948 on the HMT Empire Windrush. Sir Trevor McDonald, OBE (born George McDonald; 16 August 1939) is a Trinidadian-British newsreader and journalist, best known for his career as a news presenter with ITN.

In 2020 Patrick was selected by British Vogue as of Britain’s top 20 campaigners and was included in the 2020 Power list of 100 influential Black People in Britain.Instead, we are told about the likes of Munroe Bergdorf, who has simply changed gender, worked as a model and famously made derogatory comments about people of a particular race. This book is important as it has educated me and made me think and I feel like it should be required reading for everybody. As part of the 100 Great Black Britons campaign, children and young people have been encouraged to explore Black British history and celebrate the continued legacy and achievements of Black people in Britain.
